John Chiang will be supportive of son if he joins showbiz

2 May – Amid rumours that his son is soon to make his acting debut, Hong Kong actor-producer John Chiang (also known as David Chiang) said that he is unclear of what John Jr.'s plans may be.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who was asked about the rumours regarding his 22-year-old son's showbiz debut, said that there has been offers from two film companies for John to audition.

"But he has yet to graduate his studies, so I am not sure what he wants to do. My wife and I will give him some space to think clearly about his future," he said.

David also stated that he has no qualms about John joining showbiz, and would support his son's decision, whether it's becoming an artiste or continuing his studies.

"The entertainment industry is very diverse. As long as he is not doing it for his [15 seconds of fame], I will be supportive of him," he said.

David also revealed that John is also interested in cooking and had previously express intentions to go to France to study culinary arts.
