Jil Sander Opens First U.K. Stand-alone Store on Bond Street

LONDON — Jil Sander, the OTB-owned fashion label, this week celebrated the opening of its first stand-alone store in the U.K. with a cocktail reception hosted by the brand’s co-creative directors Lucie and Luke Meier.

Created in partnership with architecture firm Casper Mueller Kneer, the 1,600-square-foot, split-level space is covered with silver-blue travertine. The store also features monochrome blocks of marble, brass elements, and timber pieces.

“We aim at creating spaces where you feel at ease, where the first thing you sense is an atmosphere, rather than an architecture,” the Meiers said.

The store at 134 Bond Street, neighboring Church’s and Brunello Cucinelli and facing Loewe and Celine, carries women’s and men’s runway and pre-collections across ready-to-wear, shoes, handbags and accessories.

Luca Lo Curzio, chief executive officer of Jil Sander since last June, said that London is an important market for the brand, and opening on Bond Street was “a natural evolution in the brand’s retail expansion, and the perfect context to debut our new store concept.”

“The architecture, created in collaboration with CMK, reinforces the brand’s approach to design defined by deliberation, rigor and artistry, which has made Jil Sander a unique reference for modern luxury. The intimate atmosphere underscored by natural materials, elegance and purity of forms is well-appreciated by our sophisticated clients,” he asserted.

On Wednesday night, guests including British DJ Benji B, photographer Nikolai von Bismarck, “The Witcher” star Anna Shaffer, model Anna Cleveland, and art collector India Rose James turned up alongside OTB founder Renzo Rosso to celebrate the store launch.

As of 2024, Jil Sander runs 64 boutiques, with half of them being in Japan and China, and is available in more than 300 select multibrand retailers worldwide. In the U.K., the brand is also present at Harvey Nichols, Harrods, and Dover Street Market.
