Paramount Players has announced that the "Transformers: The Last Knight" star is portraying the curious Latina adventurer in the live-action movie adaptation of the popular Nickelodeon TV series, "Dora the Explorer", according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Dora has long been a celebrated, strong heroine in animated television, and like Dora, Isabela has an incredible spirit and is an advocate for positive values," said president of Paramount Players, Brian Robbins, regarding the casting.

The 17-year-old actress added, "I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model – she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl".

Moner, who has been playing dramatic roles such as the one in "Transformers: The Last Knight" and in this year's "Sicario: Day of the Soldado", will have the chance to be more playful as the movie is catered to a younger audience.

If the movie follows exactly like the animated TV series, fans can expect a CGI-heavy movie with voice actors portraying talking animals and other non-living things.

When news of the movie first broke last year, it was already speculated that Moner was to play the titular character, especially since "Transformers" director Michael Bay was said to be producing. Though Bay's involvement was later debunked, fans' dream to see Moner play Dora has at least turn reality.

James Bobin will direct the project, which is scheduled to release in North America on 2 August 2019.
