Ian Fang and Carrie Wong apologise after explicit texts between them leaked
SINGAPORE – Channel 8 actors Ian Fang and Carrie Wong have apologised over sexually explicit private text messages between the two of them which were leaked.
A video, which had circulated among the showbiz industry for a few weeks before reaching the wider public online, shows someone’s hand holding a mobile phone and scrolling through a flirty Instagram chat conversation between Fang and Wong.
At one point in the conversation, Fang tells her, “It feels comfortable when I sleep with you... I look forward to the next time.”
Fang adds that he would “plant strawberries” (Chinese slang for love bites)” on Carrie, to which she replies, “If you make it painful, I will bite you back.”
It is unclear when the conversation took place or who leaked it, but both artists have confirmed that the leak is genuine.
Wong recently revealed in February that she is dating a Taiwanese guy named Boris Lin, while Fang has long been rumoured to be dating actress Rebecca Lim.
Fang and Wong, who are both managed by Mediacorp’s The Celebrity Agency, have both released statements in Chinese addressing the leaked messages.
In his statement, Fang said, “With regard to the private conversation between me and my good friend Carrie Wong that’s been circulating online, I’m very shocked. I apologise to everyone for my inappropriate behaviour. Carrie and I are very good friends and there is nothing we can’t say to each other. I admit that the language we used was vulgar and inappropriate and I apologise for that. I feel very bad for those who have read the messages. As a public figure, I will be careful about my words and actions in the future.”
Meanwhile, Wong said, “Ian and I are good friends of many years, and we often don’t put much thought into what we say to each other. I deeply regret the unnecessary trouble and hurt caused to everyone by the coarse language in our private conversation. I have been reflecting a lot after the incident. I have to take responsibility for my inappropriate language. I am grateful to my boyfriend for his trust in me. I offer my deepest apologies to everyone.”
Ivy Low, head of Celebrity Agency, also released a statement: “The conversation, as we understand it, was a private exchange conducted in jest. However, it was distasteful and inappropriate. The parties involved are deeply embarrassed and have no doubt taken away many lessons from this unfortunate incident. We expect our artistes, being public figures, to conduct themselves professionally and appropriately at all times.”
Fang, who is 29, and Wong, who is 25, both star in the drama series, Hello, Miss Driver, currently airing on Channel 8, where they play siblings.
Meanwhile, Rebecca Lim did a very strange thing a week before the scandalous news broke: she unfollowed everyone she was following on Instagram. She also appears to have deleted all pictures of Fang from her Instagram.
Perhaps Lim, who has been romantically linked to Fang for years, got wind of the leak and moved to cut her losses?
