Hong Kong TVB actor Tsang Weiquan dies at 58 from lung cancer

Hong Kong TVB actor Tsang Weiquan, who was suffering from lung cancer at the beginning of the year, has died from the illness on 13 Nov. He was 58.

Tsang, who is famous for his leading roles in dramas such as Yunhai Jade Bow, The White Haired Witch, and The Legend of the Condor Heroes, was last seen at a media event in November 2019. He was spotted having slimmed down a lot, and had revealed that there were problems with his lungs and would require long-term treatment, medication, and recovery.

On the 10th, the Hong Kong media reported that Tsang was admitted to Tseung Kwan O Hospital. His condition deteriorated, and he had become critically ill. When approached by the media, his god-sister Sasa, who was his primary caregiver, had said that she could not disclose any information.

The news of Tsang’s passing was shared by his friend Wen Xueer, who had posted a Facebook post remembering the actor.

“I worked with you on the first episode of your debut drama, and when we met the last time, we said we would cooperate again, didn’t we? I hope you are at peace in the heavens,” Wen wrote.

Tsang was originally playing a lead role in Forensic Pioneer 4, but had to resign from his role a few days after filming commerce due to weakened health. He rejoined the drama at a later date with another part as he felt better.

Taking up a smaller role in Apostle Walker 3, which was filmed in September 2019 and broadcasted in October 2020, it became Tsang’s last work on screen before his passing.
