Good Stuff! yong tau foo shuts down all 3 outlets & opens nasi lemak concept

Whenever I have a hankering for yong tau foo, a few places come to mind. It’s with a heavy heart that I share that one of them will be gone soon. Good Stuff! is well-known for their yummy range of homemade YTF and collagen-rich fish soup. They have just announced that they will be shutting down all outlets in Singapore by 30 May 2024— excuse me while I go cry myself silly!

The brand plans to reposition itself for overseas expansion to Indonesia and Malaysia where there is a growing interest for this concept. Who knows? If you keep your eyes peeled for Good Stuff! it might surprise you on your next Batam escape!

When I first discovered Good Stuff! at New Tech Park along Lorong Chuan, I was genuinely gobsmacked by the ingenious pairing of handcrafted yong tau foo with a robust-tasting milky fish soup.

I mean, having it with the usual soy bean and anchovy broth is already satisfying, but the fish soup really takes the experience to a whole new level.

One standout feature is the addition of tau cheo (fermented soybeans) gravy used to coat the fried items. It’s a rarity these days and the only other place I remember having it was Ampang Niang Tou Fu at Katong, which no longer exists.

The establishment then opened its 2nd outlet at VivoCity’s Food Republic in Jan 2024. I remember jumping for joy when I chanced upon its 3rd outlet at Sengkang Square in February. I finally had a convenient location to enjoy their yong tau foo. Oh well, at least I had 3 months.

Good Stuff! announced that the outlet at VivoCity will be shutting down 1 day earlier (29 May 2024) to make way for a brand-new food concept called Heng Ong Huat Nasi Lemak in early June.

This fresh concept will feature aromatic coconut rice served with the usual partners in crime like Chicken Wing, Fish Fillet and Kuning Fish. There will be other unique options like Prawn Paste Chicken and Garlic Chicken Cutlet.

Meanwhile, Good Stuff! will study the feasibility to reopen at a new location with a bigger space to better serve its supporting customers. Although nothing is confirmed at the moment, I’m crossing my fingers that they do.

Only time will tell.
