Gigi Lai is happy younger brother is standing again
26 Oct – More than ten years after she took over her brother's business CosMax following the accident that left him paralysed, former actress Gigi Lai revealed that her brother is now standing again.
The news was shared by Gigi on Facebook with a photo of her next to her said younger brother Stephen, who could be seen standing without any assistance.
She poster, "It has not been easy to walk all the way: Cosmax has been able to build up from one store to more branches in Central and Tsim Sha Tsui store. And with the expansion of the store in Causeway Bay, this year the company has renovated a total of 18,000 square feet and started its own journey.
"Every time I feel tired, there will be a strong power behind me to support and encourage me. My brother has been struggling for life for more than a decade. Although he lost his ability to move freely, he still has a firm will, positive perception, and infinite love for life. Every time I have a hard time at work, his indomitable spirit will always re-ignite my devotion to work, to the medical beauty industry, and to life.
"Today, brother can stand up and meet everyone, and I'm really very touched. His tenacity is the motivation to keep me in progress, and I will continue to persevere," she added.
It is noted that Gigi announced her retirement from showbiz back in 2008 to focus on her brother and his said company, after his 2007 car accident left him paralysed. While taking care of Stephen, Gigi also got married in the same year, and had to balance her life into managing the business, her brother, and her own family.
