Fan Bingbing's movie slammed for using China flag

7 Oct – Fan Bingbing found herself slammed yet again by Chinese netizens, and this time it's for the teaser photo of her new Hollywood movie.

As reported on Mingpao, the actress recently took to social media to share a teaser photo of her character for the movie, "355", in which her own image is superimposed in front of the flag of China - just like all the other actresses and their own national flags - to signify her nationality.

She captioned it, "We are the 355".

However, several netizens immediately went on the offence after seeing the image, saying that this action may violate Article 18 of the National Flag Law, which stipulates that "relevant patterns shall not be use as trademarks and advertisements."

Although it was through no fault of Fan's, these netizens accused her of being an "accomplice" for not stopping the film studio from doing so.

On the other hand, fans of the said actress defended her, saying that actors seldom participate in the poster design work - and accused haters of just trying to find fault in everything.

"355", which also co-stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong'o, and Penelope Cruz, will be released in the United States on 15 January 2021, though no news as to when it will be released internationally.
