Famous Kok Sen Restaurant to open 2nd outlet after 54 years, donating proceeds to charity
Those who love to eat zi char should be no stranger to the name Kok Sen Restaurant – founded in 1970, the zi char establishment is renowned for its authentic flavours and even has 8 continuous years of Michelin Bib Gourmand accolades. They’re now opening their 2nd outlet in City Square Mall after 54 years!
Diners can expect both Kok Seng’s classics as well as exclusive new dishes, such as Smoked Tea Duck, made from a family recipe. The duck is painstakingly prepared in a process that requires at least 10 hours of marinating, air-drying, smoking, and deep-drying.
Of course, the Big Prawn Hor Fun, Kok Seng’s signature, will be on the menu featuring rich, savoury gravy with ribbons of egg over hor fun full of wok hei. The dish, which started out as a simple creation using hor fun, eggs and dried shrimps has evolved into an iconic dish over time. Other signatures include ‘Gan Xiang’ Fish Meat, Fried Roasted Pork, and Claypot Yong Tau Foo.
Kok Sen Restaurant will be having its soft opening on 15 Dec 2024, with the grand opening set for 11 Jan 2025. To celebrate the occasion, from 13 to 15 Jan 2025, the first 100 tables will receive a complimentary bowl of Big Prawn Hor Fun, and diners will be encouraged to reciprocate by donating any amount they choose to Arc Children’s Centre.
Arc Children’s Centre is Singapore’s first charity daycare facility, and is devoted to providing children fighting cancer and other serious childhood illnesses with the emotional and educational support they need.
Additionally, all proceeds of sales from subsequent bowls (from 101 bowls onwards, up till 200 bowls) of Big Prawn Hor Fun will be donated to Arc Children’s Centre.
