Eric Tsang admits he didn't expect to lose to Lin Po-hung

29 Nov - Eric Tsang was previously excited to be nominated in the Best Supporting Actor category at the 53rd Golden Horse Awards, especially when his son Derek Tsang was also nominated in the Best Director category.

However, both father and son failed to win in their respective categories at the event held in Taipei last Saturday.

As reported on Epoch Times, while Derek has been very skeptical about his own chance of winning at the prestigious awards, Eric was more positive about the outcome, which made his loss to "At Cafe 6" actor Lin Po-hung a little painful.

"I recalled that when the list of the top five was announced, my daughter [Bowie Tsang] had mentioned that Lin Po-hung gave a good performance as well, but since I haven't seen the movie, I didn't particularly think about it much. I didn't expect that he would really win," said Eric.

His "Mad World" co-star, Shawn Yue, has also comforted the actor for his loss, saying that nobody would ever doubt Eric's performance.

"It doesn't matter if you didn't win the prize. As long as you make an honest film, the audience will be able to feel it."
