Dingdong Dantes nearly gave up on military training

7 Jan – Dingdong Dantes admitted that he nearly quit while on his Special Forces training under the Philippine Army.

As reported on GMA News, the actor, who underwent a rigorous training with the army in July last year at the Fort Ramon Magsaysay in Nueva Ecija alongside "Descendants of the Sun" co-stars Rocco Nacino, Paul Salas, and many more, listed some of the routines they had to do, including obstacle course, rope course, jungle warfare, small unit tactics, and close-quarters battle.

"The first time I did it, there was a point I was like, "Wait a minute. Is this it?" I felt like going home, but we were a whole team, so we couldn't really give up," he said, acknowledging how challenging it was even for him to go through everything.

Fortunately for them, the soldiers who joined them gave him the encouragement to finish the training.

"It was important for us to present our troops properly. We needed to internalise them and physically feel what they are going through," he added.

The upcoming Filipino adaptation of the hit Korean drama is set to air this year.
