Delta Is Adding Its First-ever Nonstop Flight to This Asian City Next Year
The new route will connect Seattle and Taiwan.
Delta Air Lines will launch flights from Seattle to Taiwan next summer, flying direct from the United States to the island for the first time.
The new flight will launch on June 6, 2024, and will offer daily nonstop service from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taipei, according to Delta. The airline will use an Airbus A330-900neo aircraft for the year-round service.
This route, subject to government approval, will mark the first time Delta has flown to Taiwan since 2017 when they operated a connection there from Tokyo’s Narita International Airport (NRT).

“This route not only opens new doors to Taipei’s captivating skyline, vibrant night markets, and rich cultural heritage, but it also marks a significant stride in enhancing Seattle's global connectivity,” Joan Wang, a managing director with the airline, said in a statement obtained by Travel + Leisure. “This strategic addition to Delta's trans-Pacific portfolio is poised to make a profound impact on the Seattle market, fostering increased business and leisure travel opportunities for our discerning customers.”
The new flight comes months after Taiwan introduced a plan to pay tourists to visit. Those not part of tour groups who stay on the island for three to 90 days can enter to win a voucher for NT $5,000 ($159.16), according to the Taiwan Tourism Administration. In total, 500,000 travelers will be selected to win through June 30, 2025.
Delta will also serve three other trans-Pacific destinations with non-stop service from Seattle: Seoul, Tokyo, and Shanghai.
Beyond Seattle, the airline added several other flights across the Pacific this year, including resuming service to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from Honolulu and Minneapolis. It is also launching service from Los Angeles to Auckland, New Zealand.
