Cyndi Wang clarifies rumours of new romance
13 Jun - Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang has recently denied rumours that she is currently in a new relationship.
As reported on Epoch Times, the singer, who broke up with actor boyfriend Yao Yuan-hao four months ago, was previously rumoured to have found new love in a man named Derek - supposedly the heir of a shipping business and that the two of them have been secretly dating for a while now.
Cyndi, who denied the rumours on Facebook, stated that Derek is part of her group of friends that was first introduced by the late Taiwanese actress Beatrice Hsu, and that they are so close to each other that they are practically brother and sister.
The singer stated that she felt helpless when the media linked her romantically to Derek, and that she has decided to clarify the rumours in order not to cause trouble for Derek, who is not involved in the entertainment industry.
"Derek is a very good friend of mine. You can also say that he is like a spiritual mentor for me. But he really is not involved romantically with me. He is not a public figure, so please give him some space," she wrote.
Cyndi added that while romance can be short-lived, friendship is for life - which is why she will continue to cherish their friendship.
