Cyndi Wang admits frustration with Yao Yuan-hao

15 Aug - Taiwanese singer Cyndi Wang has made her first personal statement since the controversy surrounding the leak of her private photo.

The singer decided to post a message on Facebook not long after her ex-boyfriend, Yao Yuan-hao released his own statement. In Yao's previous statement, he lamented about the negative impact the issue had on him as the person who took the photo, and shared that he has finally lodged a police report.

In her statement, Cyndi stated she never reported it to the police herself, not when it happened more than a year ago and not now when the leak happened again - knowing that the first person that will be held accountable would be Yao. The singer added that she would never be able to take action against a person who had a meaningful part in her life, no matter if they had broken up or not.

However, she admitted that it was disheartening that Yao decided to keep quiet for as long as he could before finally deciding to go to the police, 15 days after the fact.

"Maybe it's too late, and it's probably nothing to do with each other. But at least he made the first step. But I would like to give him another chance to prove himself," Cyndi added.

In the post, she also denied rumours that the leak was a publicity gimmick for her concert, saying that nobody would want to buy a ticket to her show because her photo was leaked online. She also added that there is no reason for her to do something as undignified to get people's attention.

She denied accusation that she gained the most benefit from the scandal, saying that she could not see how it profits her in anyway.

Cyndi also denied Yao's previous statement that the two of them have discussed the issue, saying that she had to face the media on her own.
