Coco Lee's family unveils a new memorial statue

18 Jun – In commemorating the 30th anniversary of Coco Lee in showbiz, a new memorial statue of the late singer was unveiled at the Shimen Peak Memorial Park, where she was laid to rest.

Coco's family and fans from all around the world gathered at the memorial park on 15 June to witness the unveiling of the statue, which was created by Wuhan-based sculptor Shi Jinsong.

It was reported that the statue was inspired by The Birth of Venus painting by the Italian artist Sandro Botticelli, and had taken 10 months to be carved. It is made of mirrored stainless steel, which reflects the sunlight.

The statue also has a pair of angel wings and stands on a giant pearl shell, as if riding the waves at the end of the rainbow stairs. The overall design expresses Coco's existence like an angel in the clouds.

Meanwhile, it was announced that Sony Music will also be releasing more of Coco's unpublished works in the future in hopes of immortalising the singer and her music.
