Chinese New Year 2025: 10 best festive snacks in Singapore you must have
Step into the vibrant world of Chinese New Year 2025 in Singapore, where festive snacks take centre stage. Treat yourself to the top 10 delights, from iconic pineapple tarts and crispy love letters to divine cookies. Each bite celebrates tradition, bringing prosperity and joy to this beloved season. Happy Lunar New Year— let the snacking begin!
1. Ding Bakery
The pineapple tart specialists do more than just one thing right! Yes, the very talented team behind Ding Bakery’s exquisite CNY pineapple tarts also creates an entire range of Chinese New Year snacks that your guests will love you for.
Their premium ingredients, brought together in innovative ways to create unforgettable flavours, are famous. However, we rate them above all the others because they go just that little bit further with their innovation. You will know exactly what I am talking about when you go through this list off my favourite Ding Bakery CNY snacks.
No surprises that the first is the eternal festive favourite, Premium Hae Bee Hiam (Sambal Prawn Cracker (S$15.90). Crisp to perfection, they feature a subtle hint of spice above the bold, umami flavours of dried shrimp and sambal to be my highest recommendation.
Topping the sweet festive snacks is their Award-Winning Melt-In-Your-Mouth Kueh Bangkit (S$19.90). It’s almost impossible to describe how these fragrant, feather-light cookies dissolve in your mouth, leaving an addictive lingering hint of coconut sweetness.
Butter cookies may seem like a back-to-basics option but there is nothing basic about Ding Bakery’s Award-Winning Gold Standard Premium Butter Cookies (S$19.90). This is an elevated version of the childhood snack you remember, just made especially buttery and rich. I give in to their crumbly goodness every year!
I have a smile to my face as I write about the Premium Golden Egg Roll Love Letters (S$15.90). Perhaps more than any other snack, I associate CNY with ‘love letters’ because of the unique shape. I can’t recall how many hours I spent just slowly chewing each one down, savouring the eggy, buttery flavour as I walked about. The kids absolutely adore this one!
Finally, we come to their innovative specialties. This year, they are the Crispy Salted Egg Crab Stick, Mala Salted Egg Series and Black Truffle Salted Egg Series.
Go for the first for a crunchy delight that features a balanced spice profile. The Mala Salted Egg is for the brave – it left me hoo-haa-ing all over the place. Ding Bakery has done a great job of capturing the essence of truffle and combining it harmoniously with salted egg in the last of these special snacks.

Our favourites from their 2025 range of CNY snacks are topped by what are everyone’s favourites, the Melt In Your Mouth Pineapple Tarts range.
Apart from the classic Melt in Your Mouth Pineapple Tarts – 24 pcs, ~460g (S$23.90, U.P.: S$49.80), they have Cheezylicious – Cheese Pineapple Tarts – 28 pcs, ~460g (S$25.90, U.P.: S$53.80), YOlkLO – Salted Egg Pineapple Tarts – 24 pcs, ~460g (S$27.90, U.P.: S$57.80) and Siao LA – Mala Pineapple Tarts – 24 pcs, ~460g (S$25.90, U.P.: S$53.80).
CNY can be pineapple tart overload time so they also have some excellent alternatives. My favourite of these is the Snow White – Kueh Bangkit 薯粉饼 (S$14.90). The way each heavenly piece just dissolves on your tongue is magical.
Many of us look for healthier alternatives during the festive season, and some of the best options are the Xing Fu – Premium Almond Cookies 杏仁饼干 (S$17.90) and Auspishewous – Premium Cashew Nut Cookies 腰果饼干 (S$17.90). Sink your teeth into their nutty goodness without feeling guilty.
Pineapple Tarts SG bakes in limited batches of their Chinese New Year snacks. That means they produce each snack to a really high standard but also means that they run out early. Make sure to order early and take advantage of the discounts up to 50% for CNY 2025!

3. Wang Lai Bakery
Wang Lai Bakery is not just another bakery but the culmination of 4 generations of baking expertise. Their Chinese New Year snacks have been tried, tested, improved and perfected over decades to earn them a spot on our list. Not a single machine is involved in their baking processes.
That commitment to handmade excellence is your win! This year, get your fill of their most popular CNY snacks, currently going at amazing early bird discounts, some of more than 50%!
Make those massive savings when you stock up on Melt in Your Mouth Pineapple Tarts (S$19.90, U.P.: $39.80), Melt in Your Mouth Open Face Pineapple Tarts (S$19.90, U.P.: S$39.80), Premium Cranberry Pineapple Tarts (S$19.90, U.P.: S$41.80), Premium Prawn Rolls (S$15.90, U.P.: S$31.80) and Premium Chocolate and Peanut Butter Love Letter (S$16.90, U.P.: S$35.80).
We all know the Melt in Your Mouth Pineapple Tarts and Melt in Your Mouth Open Face Pineapple Tarts, and Wang Lai Bakery makes one of the best versions we have ever tasted. The Premium Cranberry Pineapple Tarts are a newcomer to the scene and will appeal to those who want an antioxidant boost amidst all the snacking.
Premium Prawn Rolls are my personal kryptonite— I just keep popping them down, non-stop. Wang Lai’s version with premium sambal and hae bi hiam is especially addictive. Breaking with basic, both with shape and filling is the bakery’s Premium Chocolate and Peanut Butter Love Letter. It wonderfully combines equal parts peanut butter and chocolate spread for a perfectly balanced sweet-salty taste between crisp layers of crispiness. If you want to try something new, this is it!
Find them in the lead-up to CNY 2025 at Vivocity, NEX, Velocity, Jurong Point and TANG Plaza.

4. Delcie’s Desserts and Cakes
“Can I eat that?” “Should I eat that?” The festive season brings with it the dilemma of weighing whether to indulge in the delicious snacks or be disciplined. Delcie’s Cakes and Desserts bridges the gap with guilt-free Chinese New Year snacks that everyone can enjoy. Their journey from co-sharing a bubble tea stall in 2008 to one of Singapore’s best healthy bakeries is nothing short of remarkable.
Just as noteworthy are their CNY snacks. You won’t believe these 3 picks are all vegetarian, eggless, dairy-free and made with reduced sugar considering the burst of flavour they pack. The first 2 are gluten-free, too.
My first recommendation is the GF Mulberry with Almond Biscotti (S$38). It partners toasted imported almonds with Vitamin C-laden mulberries so you get 2 wonderfully healthy natural ingredients in 1 snack.
Next is their GF Macadamia Nut Cookies (S$38), where each almond and macadamia nut is roasted perfectly to release its telltale aroma into the cookie dough. More traditional is the Folded Love Letters (S$38), which are hand-roasted over charcoal to extract that wonderful richness of coconut milk in every bite.
Indulge in all 3, happy in the knowledge that you’ve chosen the healthiest option.

5. Whisking Bakes
Born in 2020, Whisking Bakes is a relative newcomer to the CNY snacks scene. It is Singapore’s first specialty bake shop and here, they do things a little differently – instead of using pineapple in their tarts, they use yam! This isn’t unheard of – it is a traditional variation from Teochew cuisine where the pastry is stuffed with delicious and smooth yam paste steamed to perfection.
At Whisking bakes, the CNY Orh Nee Tarts come in 2 bottle sizes: Small (11 pieces) (S$17.90) and Medium (25 pieces) (S$37.90). You can also opt for the interesting Pandan Orh Nee Tarts (11 pieces for S$17.90) and (25 pieces for S$37.90).
Whisking Bakes recommends you finish the tarts within 3-5 days if the bottles are kept at room temperature and within 2 weeks if they are stored in a refrigerator. This is because their CNY snacks are baked completely free of preservatives.

7. Yan’s Cakes
If you know Yan’s Cakes, you know that their all-time crowd favourite is the signature Swiss roll, available in 11 flavours. Having been running for 24 years, the shop prides itself on offering traditional, handmade items that have stood the test of time. During Chinese New Year, though, it’s their range of season specialities that ahem take the cake. Say hello to Pineapple Tarts, Almond Cookies, Cranberry Butter Cookies and Cornflakes Cookies.
The classic and very heavenly star of the show is the bottle of Pineapple Tarts (S$21.80 for small, S$29.80 for large). As you would expect from a premium product, it’s the buttery richness of the pastry that first tantalises your tastebuds. The signature flower-shaped pineapple tarts are a testament to the brand’s unique identity, making them a standout choice for any occasion. In addition, enjoy great value for money— their prices are competitive, with most products staying the same as last year.
As you indulge in those subtle savoury notes, the highlight hits you: the sweet-sour tang of the pineapple filling. Dense with the flavour of natural fruit, it is made even better by a mesmerising combination of textural contrast with the pastry. Best of all, you don’t have to wait for CNY to indulge – Yan’s Cakes offers this seasonal favourite all year round!
Another wonderful choice is their melt-in-your-mouth Almond Cookies (S$21.80 for small, S$29.80 for large). These aren’t the typical sweet-centric cookies so common elsewhere. Instead, Yan’s Cakes lets the rich, nutty taste of the almonds star the show. This snack is perfect for those with a palate for subtle, authentic flavours.
Two other can’t-miss selections are the Cranberry Butter Cookies (S$18.80) and Cornflakes Cookies (S$18.80). Ideal for CNY is the Yan’s Cakes Gift Set (S$44.80). It comes with Pineapple Tarts (small) and Almond Cookies (small), giving you the 2 all-time favourites to indulge in and share with your favourite people.
This year, Yan’s Cakes is also introducing new CNY gift hampers: the Prosperity Basket (S$168) and the Abundance Basket (S$208). Each hamper features their signature Pineapple Tarts, Almond Cookies, and a selection of classic CNY goodies. Sounds like we’re all set for a CNY tea party!

8. Garden Pastry & Cake
Garden Pastry & Cake is one of the newcomers on our list and we are surprised we hadn’t discovered them before. Established in 1977, this local homegrown bakery makes everything by hand and uses no preservatives or additives in any of their CNY snacks.
It’s no surprise, though, that their Golden Pillow Pineapple Tarts (Small- 25pcs S$30.80, Large- 56 pcs S$53.80) are our faves. Adorably pillow-shaped, their design almost distracts you from the richness of the buttery crust and the tangy sweetness of the premium pineapple filling.
We were also impressed by the incredible flavour of their lapis cakes. Every layer of the Kueh Lapis (Whole) S$65 and Prune Lapis (Whole) S$72 is baked individually, and that meticulous process adds a depth of flavour that cannot be replicated. The latter made with prunes introduces bursts of sweet and tangy flavour that elevate this traditional tasty treat.
One of their most popular CNY snacks is the delightfully crunchy Almond Cranberry Bites (S$30.80). Since its 2005 debut, this combination of roasted diced almonds and the tangy, slightly chewy cranberries has been a crowd favourite. Biting into the harmony of textures and flavours, we can see why!
The bestseller, though, is their Crunchy Macadamia Nut Bites (S$30.80). It’s an irresistible combination of aromatic red sugar and fresh, crunchy macadamia nuts packed into bite-sized cookies. We found the macadamia’s creamy, buttery texture and the red sugar’s fragrant sweetness to be a dizzyingly addictive combination.
Order early to take advantage of the Early Bird Special from 28 Dec 2024 to 12 Jan 2025. The 15% discount applies to orders of 3 boxes or more.
If you buy at least 2 boxes, enjoy a 10% discount with the CNY Festival Promotion from 28 Dec 2024 to 27 Jan 2025.
Please note that these discounts do not apply to cookie hampers, gift sets, kueh lapis and nian gao.

9. Ollella
Indonesian heritage, Parisian techniques and American creativity come together in a Singaporean bakery at Ollella. Oh, and what a spread they have for CNY 2025!
There’s no better place to start than at the classic Golden Pineapple Balls (15pcs, ~270g) (S$22.80) also make an appearance. Ollella makes them less sweet so you can indulge more. Another way to indulge responsibly would be the Vegan Almond Cookies (20pcs, ~210g) (S$22.80) made from premium US almonds.
Another lip-smacking treat from Ollella is their signature Jade Ondeh Balls (15pcs, ~280g) (S$22.80). These deliciously moist wonders are made from coconut gula Jawa and encased in a melt-in-mouth pandan butter cookie.
Our other recommendations are the Huat Hebi Hiam Balls (S$22.80), their best-seller Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin (S$18) and the Signature Spiced Lapis (from S$29.80).

10. 603 Tau Sar Piah
Family-owned and -run for almost 30 years now, 603 Tau Sar Piah has behind it 3 generations of dedicated artisans. Their traditional recipes remain the same but are augmented by constant experimentation.
One of those is their 好意头芋头糕 Yam Cake (7” round) (S$30.80). It is superbly flavoursome as the yam is cut and shredded by hand, steamed and then combined with chicken sausage, scallops and shiitake mushroom.
Our favourite is the eye-catching 四季平安 Lunar New Year Gift Box (S$60). It contains Chocolate Chip Cookies, Kueh Bangkit, Classic Pineapple Balls and Hei Bee Hiam.
An exotic addition is the Cranberry Kueh Lapis (6″x6″) (S$60). You can also have Prune Kueh Lapis (6″x6″) (S$57) and their original Kueh Lapis (6″x6″) (S$46.80). All these sets come in a gift box. You can find the full CNY 2025 snacks menu here.
