Chin Ka Lok not pressured by "Kungfu Stuntmen" box office number

15 Oct – Although his movie "Kungfu Stuntmen" did not make a big dent at the mainland box office earlier, Chin Ka Lok recently stated that he is not at all pressured about the Hong Kong box office, as the said project is not a commercial movie.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who appeared alongside wife Angela Tong at the Hong Kong premiere of the said movie recently, stated that his original intention for the movie is to share about the people involved in the Hong Kong movies stunt industry, and was presented in the form of a documentary.

"I wanted to relay that the 'Dragon and Tiger Warriors' are not limited to Sammo Hung, Jackie Chan, Yuen Biao, and Donnie Yen. It is a concerted effort of the whole industry," he said.

As for the criticism against Jackie for supposedly not participating in the movie, Chin stated that Jackie did personally filmed for them, but that they ran into a lot of technical and copyrights issues afterwards.

"The documentary is not only being released here, but will be sold to streaming platforms, so we had to edit it out no matter how painful it was," he said.

Initiated by the Hong Kong Action Stunt Actors Association, the movie recorded one of the most specialised groups in Chinese cinema; combing through the vast sea of video data, with interviews with numerous seniors and newcomers in martial arts, and outlining the changes for the past 70 years, from the golden age to the decline of Hong Kong movies, and to the rise and fall of martial arts.
