Chang Chen wins his first Golden Horse Best Actor award

29 Nov – Chang Chen has finally nabbed his first Golden Horse Best Actor award after his fourth try.

As reported on Mingpao, the actor, who lost 12 kilograms for his role in the thriller, "The Soul", thanked his family and his mentor Edward Yang for their influence in his acting career during the ceremony that was held on 27 November.

"Although he is no longer here, he was the director of my first film," said Chang of Edward, who directed him in "A Brighter Summer Day", in which he was nominated in his first ever Best Actor category at the Golden Horse Awards in 1991.

"I have been in the industry for a long time. 30 years. This is a very good thing for me. It has allowed me to continuously improve my performance," he said. "What I can do is to continue to be an actor, perform different roles, and show the audiences the lives of different people."

It is noted that Chang was also previously nominated for Best Actor in 2005 for "Three Times" and 2014 for "Brotherhood of Blades".
