Carol Banawa admits challenge of being a frontliner in the US
21 Apr – Singer-actress Carol Banawa recently admitted that it was challenging being in the forefront of the war against COVID-19, especially in the US where nothing is certain.
As reported on ABS-CBN, the actress who is a registered nurse in the US, shared on "ASAP Natin' To" that the medical workers were always in fear of getting infected themselves from coming in contact with the patients.
"My greatest fear is bringing the virus home, because my daughter is considered high risk due to her asthma. My husband, he is in the military, so what we had to do was just add protection," she said.
Banawa revealed that her family had their own system to ensure their safety.
"We had a basket by the door and then once we get home, we remove all the clothes, go straight to the bathroom and then shower first. After that, that's the only time we can greet and say hello to the kids," she said.
However, despite the hardship, Banawa said that she is more than willing to do her part in fighting the virus with the rest of the health-workers all over the world, adding that work was bearable because she has workmates at her unit in the hospital who are also Filipinos.
"In our unit, in the OR, I have a lot of Filipino co-workers there. Of course it feels good to be with your fellow workers at work. If you give a Filipino a job, we do it the best way we can," she said.
