Candice Chiu surprised to win Best Supporting Actress

15 Jan – Candice Chiu is still in shock after besting other contenders like Samantha Ko and Rebecca Zhu to win Best Supporting Actress at the recently held TVB Anniversary Awards.

As reported on On CC, the actress, who won for her performance in "Barrack O'Karma", broke down in tears during her acceptance speech at the event held on 12 January, saying that it was a dream come true for her to become an actor.

She also thanked some of her family members who supported her decision to join showbiz, seemingly confirming rumours that a portion of her family members were not happy with her acting career.

Speaking to the media backstage after her speech, Candice stated that she was moved to be accepting the award from Mandy Wong, who also gave her a lot of support and advice throughout her career.

"In fact, I feel like I still have a lot of room for improvement," she added.

It is noted that this is the first Best Supporting Actress nomination for Candice, who joined TVB in 2008 following a participation in the 2007 Miss Hong Kong pageant.
