Bollywood legend Shashi Kapoor passes away

5 Dec – One of India's most prominent and renowned actors Shashi Kapoor has passed away yesterday due to prolonged liver cirrhosis.
"Yes, he has passed away," his nephew Randhir Kapoor, the son of the late Raj Kapoor, told the Press Trust of India.
"He had a kidney problem and was on dialysis for several years."
Dr Ram Narain from the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, where the actor took his last breath, confirmed that the actor passed away at 5:20 pm on 4 December.
Having started his acting career as a child actor in his father's plays, he soon transitioned to films in the 1940s. It was in 1961's "Dharmputra" that the actor landed his debut leading role. His roles were limited to Hindi films as he also starred in English films such as "The Householder" and "Shakespeare-Wallah".
The third and youngest son of renowned actor and director Prithviraj Kapoor, and younger brother of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor, was the third member of his family to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2015, following his father and oldest brother.
The actor is survived by his sons Kunal and Karan and daughter Sanjana.
He was 79.
