Presented by the Embassy of France in Singapore, the Voilah! France Singapore Festival 2024 returns from 25 April to 26 May 2024 to immerse visitors in the vibrant tapestry of French culture in Singapore. Under the theme of "Celebrating Passions," Voilah! 2024 pays homage to France's landmark year, highlighted by hosting the Summer Olympics for the third time.

Staying true to the festival’s intention to showcase the best of French and Singaporean innovation and creativity, this edition is supported by more than 50 local and international partners. One such example in the festival line-up is Tartuffe: The Imposter, staged by Wild Rice. The 360-year-old play created by French playwright Molière was adapted into a hilarious new script, that follows Tartuffe – a charming, seductive con artist – masquerading as a man of faith as he weasels his way into an unsuspecting wealthy family's home, heart, and bank account. Get your tickets to Tartuffle today!

Also, the festival commemorates the French legends and icons that are still beloved by Singaporeans today. Alliance Française de Singapour pays grand tribute to Antoine de Saint Exupéry, the highly acclaimed author of The Little Prince with the exhibition Saint Exupéry: A Legacy, which retraces his journey, with original artifacts, screenings, readings, and conferences. Free admission.

Other exciting line-ups include Piaf! The Show, a musical tribute to Edith Piaf, the French musical icon of the 1940s, and Artletics, a vibrant celebration of urban artistry and athletic prowess, and led by the Embassy of France in Singapore and Art Outreach in the lead-up to the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.

Boutique Fairs Singapore returns for its much-anticipated Spring Summer 2024 Edition, and is bursting at the seams with local creativity and international designers hailing from all over the world. From Friday, April 26 to Sunday, April 28 at the F1 Pit Building, visitors can immerse themselves in a world of style, innovation, and socially-conscious initiatives.

The latest edition of Boutiques showcases over 300 brands and designers. Of these, visitors can look forward to discovering 80 new-to-Boutiques brands — including international brands such as Annie & Lori and Erika Peña who are making their physical Singapore-debut at Boutiques — and to be the first to shop over 200 exclusive launches from leading and emerging designers from Singapore and around the world. Plus, a bevy of new-to-Singapore brands from around the world — ranging from New York, Japan, Columbia, Denmark, and many more — will also be debuting at the fair!

For the first time ever, Boutiques will also be having a solo design exhibition by Studio Karyn Lim where selected pieces of her functional sculptures will be available for purchase. Discover a world where art and furniture collide from the work of Karyn Lim, a Singapore-based industrial designer and former recipient of the Boutiques' Young Designers Showcase Grant, whose approach to design explores craft techniques and materiality. Her exhibition will include a collection of wearable accessories, Lightness, which comprises visually cohesive pieces woven from different materials, each imbued with the ethos of lightness. She will also be exhibiting So Plast!c, a collection crafted from recycled plastic waste, which seeks to transform the narrative of the oft-disposed material by turning it into enduring pieces for interior spaces.

Beyond shopping, Boutiques aims to create and deepen the community connections it has helped foster since its inception in 2002. At the Spring Summer 2024 Edition, Boutique Fairs Singapore continues its tradition of giving back to the community by sponsoring free spaces for charities. Organisations such as Babes, Daughters of Tomorrow, and ART:DIS will also be setting up booths, offering a range of goods and services such as handmade crafts and even henna tattooing services, while allowing visitors to learn more about their impactful work and to learn how to support them.

Exploring the art of travel anew, Louis Vuitton introduces its Flight Mode collection for Summer 2024. Conceived for the journey as well as the destination, this transversal capsule comprises ready-to-wear, travel leather goods, shoes and accessories that offer an elevated approach to contemporary voyage.

Leaning into summer, the Flight Mode collection revolves around a vibrant motif, Élysée Palace, defined by overlaid vintage-style travel patches emblematic of the Maison’s heritage. The motif is a tribute to the first Parisian luxury hotel at 103 avenue Champs-Élysées, a landmark location where Louis Vuitton will establish a new project.

Scenery constructed from a multitude of trunks recall bygone trips and the role of Louis Vuitton in untold adventures. This excitement is brought forward as Flight Mode connects past and present. Élysée Palace Hotel stamps appear directly on the Monogram canvas across bags such as the Keepall and the Side Trunk along with smaller passport holders and travel cases. This new canvas reproduces the original fabric from late 19th century trunks: a mix of cotton and linen, with a lightweight resin coating. Additional Flight Mode styles are conducive to travel, whether the new, Low Key Hobo and Shoulder bag in supple grained calfskin, the OnTheGo Voyage with its new inner compartments for easy storage and removable belt pouch, the iconic Capucines in a sophisticated body-friendly GM upscaled format with a comfortable shoulder carry design, or the small Blossom bag in a refreshing shade of mineral blue.

The second style is Low Key, a new collection of bags that stand out for their streamlined, sophisticated design. Launching with two styles, Low Key embraces a certain minimalist approach while signalling timeless Louis Vuitton style. The Low Key Hobo is a generous, shape with a supple construction. Proposed in black, cognac and limestone, the grained leather is at once smooth and exceptionally tactile. A signature padlock is anchored to the strap, which is adjustable for a hand, shoulder or cross-body carry. Inside, a detachable Monogram pouch provides easy storage.

The Shoulder Bag is soft yet structured, its body-friendly silhouette enhanced by a rounded, buckled strap that is adjustable for a hand or shoulder carry. With its inner zipped compartment and an iconic padlock affixed to a central tab closure, the bag offers security alongside instantly recognisable detailing.

A defining accent on both bags, the padlock is linked to Louis Vuitton’s history as a trunk maker. In the 1880s, it functioned to secure hand luggage and leather goods, while the LV initials within a circle date to the 1970s. In this way, Low-Key highlights the padlock for its heritage and enduring aesthetic.

Following the launch of its new global platform and creative direction in 2023, adidas Originals introduces its latest campaign which continues to explore the brand’s cultural legacy by paying homage to the communities that have worn the Gazelle, Samba, and Handball Spezial yesterday and today.

The campaign shines a light on three iconic silhouettes from football culture – the Gazelle, the Samba, and the Handball Spezial. First designed for different sports, from training, to soccer and handball, since their inception, each classic has continued to make an impact across places, cultures, and movements.

Shot and directed by Vincent Haycock, and starring Carlisle Aikens, a professional skateboarder and member of the adidas Skate Team, the campaign visuals champion this timeless energy. A tableau of life seen through the story of a thousand originals, a single-take film captures a protagonist as they make their way through a street – along the way shining a light on the people, communities, identities, and subcultures that have made the Trefoil their own.

Meanwhile, a series of still images pays homage to the array of people and personalities that wear the silhouettes today – each styling them in a different way, writing new chapters for the timeless icons. Capturing the Samba, Handball Spezial, and Gazelle in a variety of locations and contexts, the story of the campaign brings to life a single shoe, worn a thousand ways.

Alongside the campaign film and imagery, adidas Originals is set to celebrate the spirit of its classic silhouettes and the people bringing new meaning to them today with a bespoke digital hub showcasing user generated content. Fans of the silhouette are invited to submit their looks by using #Samba #Gazelle and #Spezial.
