Bags we want to take on our travel adventures
You're ready to go on your next adventure: to the snowiest summits, into the depths of the ocean, into verdant forests and paths less trodden – but you have a problem. The backpacks or utility packs you have stowed away in the past might have fallen apart due to years of disused and storage in our humid weather, and you're on the lookout for a brand new one to accompany you on your next grand adventure.
Don't fret! We'll give you the low-down on some of the most loved adventure brands in the market. Plus, end-of-the-year sales mean you'll have a chance to score your dream adventure bag at a greatly discounted price.
The North Face
Probably some of the most well-known brands on this list, The North Face has been around since 1968, when it was founded to supply climbers with durable products. The company's logo draws inspiration from Half Dome, in Yosemite National Park. One of the most popular products is their Base Camp Duffel, made of a sturdy material that can stand the test of time. Personally, I own one which has quite literally rolled down the rocky trails of several mountains from Nepal to Mongolia, and emerged unscathed. 11/10 will recommend this bomber of a bag.
Osprey
Known for their high-performance and lightweight backpacks, Osprey is by no means the cheapest brand on this list. However, I own one of these bags – specifically the Osprey Kyte 36 Women's Backpack – and it has lasted me through many an airport run and have also gone on multiple mountaineering and diving trips with me.
Crumpler
More for city dwellers, Crumplers are also known for using durable and thick materials for their bags. The result is enduring products that can truly stand the test of time over daily use. Plus, they have a wide range of products that go beyond backpacks.
Hershel
Hershel is for those who seek consistency in the quality of their products. Their flagship designs have been popular for years, and will continue to see a resurgence.
Fjällräven
Hailing from the small town of Örnsköldsvik in Sweden, a place where mountains and forest meet the sea, Fjällräven isn't subject to changing trends. It's a mainstay backpack that people can buy and wear for decades, and it comes in many different colours too!
Jansport
You might remember it as a backpack for school days, but if a bag can hold tonnes of books and survive years of abuse by careless school children, it's good enough for travel.
Doughnut Backpack
One of the newer entries on this list, Doughnut Backpack was started by several local young designers in 2010, and aims to provide high-quality bags that embody the design concept of "Integrating fashion and functionality".
Live Activ
Active lifestyle & multi-sport retailer, this brand carries plenty of outdoor gears which you can check out in stores too.
Pacsafe
As the name suggests, the entire premise of this brand lies in its anti-theft technology and the design it incorporates into its bags.
