Macbook Air 15-inch review: The laptop you’ll ever need for your daily needs
The Apple Macbook Air 13-inch starts from S$1,599 but you'll just need to top up another S$300 for the new Macbook Air 15-inch.
When Apple announced during their WWDC23 keynote in June that they were dropping the all-new Macbook Air 15-inch, I was honestly shook. I've been using the Macbook Air 13-inch for work and I was itching for something bigger since I like to open countless tabs and multi-task at the same time.
Honestly, it's the specs that I was comfortable with, and for starters, it's priced for the masses that won't necessarily break your wallet: the Macbook Air 13-inch starts from S$1,599, but you'll just need to top up another S$300 for the new Macbook Air 15-inch.

The functions of the new Macbook Air 15-inch
Having used the Macbook Air 13-inch and Macbook Pro 13-inch, I find there's not much difference to the Macbook Air 15-inch. The keyboard feels the same, and the finish is smooth to the touch. I absolutely love the colour Starlight, with its shiny rose-gold finish.
The standout point, of course, is the 15.3-inch panel that really gives you a larger perspective, particularly when you're working on multiple tasks. I could even have my Trello board and Safari open in a two-panel format so I don't miss out on any ongoing chats.
Weight of the Macbook Air 15-inch
The next visible difference is the weight. The Macbook Air 15-inch weighs only 1.51kg, slightly more than the current Macbook Air 13-inch, which weighs about 1.24kg, so you won't feel much difference when you're lugging it in your backpack. But the thinness of the Macbook Air 15-inch doesn't hide the fact that the laptop is indeed HUGE, making carrying around in a tote bag not a fun thing at all.
While it's thin – measuring only 11.5mm thin – and everything fits in the chassis, I wondered why Apple decided to remove ports and not add more. My table is positioned in a way where my cables come from the right side, but now, plugging them is only reserved for the left side. This was a letdown for me in my books.
Now, watching Netflix on the Macbook Air 15-inch is a breeze! While the speakers are hidden, I almost instantly jumped out of my seat when Netflix's iconic dun-dun sound came on, capturing the bass effect. That was a surprise!
On a day-to-day basis for my writing duties, reading magazines on the Magzter app and journaling on Day One app, I find that the battery power kind of hovers around the same lasting power as my Macbook Air 13-inch, giving me a day and more to use before I need to charge it. I'd attribute it to the larger screen and pixels, so I can't say if the battery life was a plus.
Should you get the Macbook Air 15-inch?
Apple should've released this model lightyears ago; I didn't understand why they held back from doing so. It's the size you'll need, it's sturdy, and it works very well for a long time.
Furthermore, Apple is giving you a sweet deal if you're a student.
Currently, the 15-inch MacBook Air with M2, is available in midnight, starlight, silver, and space grey, starting at S$1,899 and S$1,749 for those still in educational institutions.
