Angelica Panganiban: ABS-CBN is not the enemy!

14 May – Angelica Panganiban recently reiterated her previous stance, that ABS-CBN is not the enemy when it comes to the situation concerning its shutdown.

As reported on Rappler, the actress who previously reminded everybody not to be distracted with the shutdown news to forget about the real issue of mass testing, stated that one should not bash stars like Coco Martin or Kim Chiu who have been expressing their thoughts about the situation.

"We have to remember that ABS-CBN is not the enemy. Celebrities who express their opinions are not the enemy," she said.

Instead, said Panganiban, one needs to realise the real issue here - the call to have free mass testing, the aid for those who need it, the healthcare system's capacity to respond to the pandemic, and the loss of livelihood for millions.

"The virus is the enemy, not ABS-CBN. That's what we need to stop. That's what we needed solution for," she added.

The actress added that just like everybody else, celebrities also have the freedom of speech to express their concern especially for those who could not express themselves.

"We all know that we are not the only ones affected by the ABS-CBN shutdown. It's the nation that loses. In shutting down our home, they rob people of their freedom to choose because it's the powers that be that choose what you can watch. This is not right. This cannot happen to a democratic country, to our country that should have freedom of choice and the freedom of expression," she said.
