SINGAPORE — Bubble tea shops may have been shut down due to Singapore’s tighter “circuit breaker” orders to close non-essential businesses, but there are still some avenues to get your boba fix if you crave it.

Convenience store chain 7-Eleven, for example, is still open during this period – and they are still selling their range of bubble tea and milk tea.

If your craving is for boba specifically, you can go for the Wan Wan and Polar brands of bottled bubble teas.

Note that the boba pearls in these bottled drinks are made of konjac jelly, and not tapioca starch. Real tapioca balls would turn hard and unpalatable when soaked in bubble tea for too long. The konjac pearls don’t exactly have the same chewy texture as tapioca balls, but beggars can’t be choosers.

If you simply like milk tea, there is also a range of milk teas to choose from, including those made in the original land of bubble tea, Taiwan. 7-Eleven stocks bottled milk tea from made-in-Taiwan brands Nestea and Chun Cui.

7-Eleven is essentially a mini-supermarket too, so the next time you’re stocking up on groceries and also want to get your bubble tea fix, there’s no harm dropping by a store!
