From producing original K-dramas like Soundtrack #1 and Grid to releasing J-dramas like The Files Of Young Kindaichi and My Family, Disney+ has been trying to increase their slice of the Asian market.

Following our curated lists of Singapore and Taiwanese films you can stream on Disney+, we have also found these six Hong Kong films released between 2020 and 2021.

The best thing about these films? You can enjoy them in the original Cantonese audio! Perhaps it’s my pet peeve, but I feel that dubs in other languages diminish the flavours of the films. At times, they even lose the feelings the actors expressed. So, there’s nothing better than appreciating these six films in the original voices of the actors!

Bonus: Anita (Director’s Cut) (five-episode series released in 2022)

As a child performer, Anita Mui started singing on stage in an amusement park with her elder sister Ann throughout her teenage years. Her performance caught the eye of Michael Lai, who invited her to compete in the first New Talent Singing Awards. Capital Artists signed Anita immediately after the contest and supported her with the best resources possible to compete at the upcoming Tokyo Music Festival. Soon after, she was invited by director Stanley Kwan to play the lead role in the drama Rouge.

At the height of her career in the early 90s, Anita began a relationship with martial arts actor Ben. Realising there are more important things in life she should pursue, she ended the relationship. Just when she had found her purpose in life, her worst nightmare came knocking on the door. Not long after Ann passed away of cancer, Anita was diagnosed with the same disease. In 2003, the SARS outbreak struck Hong Kong. Adding to the heavy blow is the sudden loss of Leslie Cheung.
