Previously, we introduced seven recent Taiwanese movies that you can stream on Disney+. But did you know that Disney+ also offers an array of Singapore films?

Although it may not be National Day yet, it may be worthwhile to start revisiting some of these local films, or even catch up on those that you didn’t manage to watch in the theatres.

In my case, it’s Mark Lee’s Number 1, which won Best Makeup and Costume Design at the 2020 Golden Horse Awards, and of course, was nominated for Best Leading Actor (Mark Lee). All thanks to Disney+, I managed to watch this film not once but thrice, while introducing it to my relatives during the Chinese New Year holidays.

Directed by Ong Kuo Sin, Number 1 follows the story of a struggling corporate manager (Mark Lee), who takes the only job he can land as a manager of the city’s most popular drag nightclub. One night, after he’s left with no choice but to stand in for one of the club’s top stars, his life changes in unexpected and powerful ways.
