10 best supper spots in JB to check out
Supper is like a vice— once you’re hooked, there’s no turning back. A while back, the most common late-night meals were mamak, fast food, and Ramly burger, followed by the arrival of lok lok. Nowadays, there are plenty of supper spots beyond just these. The supper scene in Johor Bahru has become more vibrant in recent years.
No matter your supper food preferences, we’ve curated an extensive list of options for you to choose from. With that, let us present our top 10 favourite supper spots in JB to prevent you from tossing and turning from hunger at midnight.
1. Soi 18
It’s easy to tell the specialty of Soi 18 just by its name. This Thai restaurant has 2 outlets in JB, one in Taman Pelangi and another in Johor Jaya. Offering a range of authentic Thai food and snacks, as well as Western dishes, it is a well-known supper spot across the city.
The hype of the restaurant started with its Signature Thai Wanton Mee (RM11.90), featuring fried wanton, char siew, meatball, and chilli flakes. This dish was once the sole focus of the eatery and has garnered a significant following. The menu has since expanded to include more offerings like Thai Volcano Pork Ribs (RM35), a must-eat item at Bangkok’s Jodd Fair, and Claypot Rice (RM14.50).
They have even brought in the iconic Thai snacks— Non Mai Phai, deep fried insects! The varieties range from bamboo worms and grasshoppers to crickets, cicadas, and small frogs, all priced at RM13. Food adventurers should definitely try this out and share your thoughts— I’ll pass!

2. 24小時板面 Restoran Signature Pan Mee
Craving for pan mee at odd hours? Fret not! Restoran Signature Pan Mee at Mount Austin is ready to serve you anytime. Its Chinese name essentially means that this restaurant is open 24 hours, and most importantly, it operates daily. People always joke that it’s the longest-standing shop on that street as many eateries tend to come and go; in a way, it showcases its enduring charm.
The pan mee here is slightly different from the others. It has a thicker appearance, shaped more like udon noodles, unlike the typical flat and broad pan mee found elsewhere. This gives the noodles a satisfyingly chewy texture. You can pair it with your choice of belacan chilli or dry chilli to elevate the dish.
Apart from pan mee, they also offer set meals that include your selected meat with rice, homemade soup, egg, and Thai-style tofu. Give their recommended dishes like Signature Asam Pedas Sotong Rice (RM12.90), Spicy Curry Chicken Rice (RM13.90), and Authentic Braised Pork Rice (RM12.90) a try.

10. Hao Xiang Chi Braised Pork Rice
Hao Xiang Chi Braised Pork Rice at Taman Pelangi has been one of my favourite supper spots since high school for a fulfilling bowl of Taiwan-style braised pork rice. It holds a special place in the hearts of many patrons, and I’m sure those who frequent the area know this eatery well.
How can you miss out on the Braised Meat Rice (RM8) when you visit a restaurant that specialises in it? The dish features finely-chopped meat atop a bed of aromatic rice. It strikes a delightful balance between the fat and lean meat, ensuring each bite is enriched with the rich texture of the fat without being overpowering.
