Zhang Ziyi slammed for saying stepdaughter lacks a mother's love
8 Nov – Zhang Ziyi's tearful confession about her stepdaughter has recently drawn flak from netizens.
According to Sohu, the actress, who is one of the judges of the mainland talent show, "The Birth of An Actor", recently spoke about her own little family on the show, and expressed her love for stepdaughter Apple, who is husband Wang Feng's daughter from his previous relationship with model Ge Huijie.
"My eldest daughter, she is not my own. She is missing a lot of mother's love. But I am happy because I am fortunate enough to know her, and destined to become her mother," she said.
Zhang added that she wants to give Apple all the love she has as a mother, even more than to her own daughter Xingxing.
Netizens who saw the show had since blasted the actress for indirectly accusing Apple's biological mother Ge Huijie of not being there for her own daughter, although based on Ge's prior social media post last year, it was the Wangs who declined to let her see Apple.
Back in February 2016, Ge wrote on Weibo, "I am not materialistic, and I only want to be myself. I believe that flesh and blood is closer than status and distance. It has been a year since I last saw Apple, and my request to visit her was rejected."
On the other hand, unlike in the past, Ge hasn't made any statement regarding Zhang.
