Zhang Linghe apologises for poor performance in drama

14 Nov - Zhang Linghe recently apologised to fans and netizens alike following criticisms concerning his acting in the new costume drama, "The Story of Kunning Palace".

As reported on Sohu, on 12 November, the actor went on a livestream via social media to address the criticisms of his role as Xie Wei in the drama, saying that he has also begun to question some of his understanding of the character at the time.

"After seeing these shortcomings, I will reflect more on what I did poorly. I hope that in future dramas, I will do better in my interpretation of the characters," he said.

It was reported that his performance in the drama has been hotly debated, with many viewers sharing the opinion that his expression is "too revealing" and that his subconscious scenes "scare people".

The drama, which has started airing on iQiyi on 7 November, stars Bai Lu as Jiang Xuening, who is given an opportunity to change her fate following her death as an empress of Qian, only to find herself becoming a student of the crown prince junior preceptor, Xie Wei.
