Yu Mo Lin not told of mother's death due to health situation
10 Dec – After being hospitalised for more than a month due to being severely ill with a rare type of blood cancer, it was revealed that veteran actress Yu Mo Lin is currently in a stable condition.
As reported on Mingpao, a close friend of the 83 year-old actress stated that Yu has been transferred to a general ward to continue receiving treatment, though she has to rely on a nasogastric tube to help her eat and a tracheal stoma to assist in breathing.
The friend added that while Yu could not speak, she was in good spirits, and was able to be in contact with family and friends via video with the help of the medical staff.
On the other hand, it was also revealed that Yu was not told that her estranged mother - veteran actress Tang Mei Mei - has died earlier this week at the age of 99. The decision to keep it quiet was made so not to affect her physical condition.
It is noted Tang Mei Mei had been living in Los Angeles for many years prior to her death, and was admitted to a nursing home a few years ago.
In a previous interview, Yu revealed that although she became interested in acting because of her mother, she lacked the maternal love needed during her childhood and that her mother preferred sons to daughters.
