Yu Chiu opens up about past marriage with Roy Chow
4 Jan – Hong Kong singer Yu Chiu recently opened up about her past marriage to actor-singer Roy Chow, and revealed that she once feared for her life due to his abusive tendencies.
As reported on Mingpao, the singer, who sat down for an interview on the ViuTV programme "Divorce Tour", shared that being in the marriage with Roy was like living in hell, and that she was scared of hearing anything about him.
"Every day I was faced with the possibility of him leaving me, what will happen if he doesn't come home?" she said.
Yu added that she was initially afraid of ending their marriage, thinking that it would start a lot of issues. However, she decided to do so for the sake of her mental health and the well-being of her daughters.
The singer added that the divorce was not only good for her and her children, but also for Roy, adding that it gave him the opportunity to mature.
It was back in 2014 when the marital woes between Roy Chow and Yu Chiu made headlines. The singer revealed that her husband cheated on her with another woman and had even hurt her during a fight, which resulted in Yu deciding to end the marriage once and for all.
Both parties had since moved on with their lives, with Roy tying the knot for the second time in 2018.
