Li Chun 2021: The best time to deposit money, spring cleaning
Everyone knows about Chinese New Year, which is the first day of the year in the Chinese Lunar calendar. However, do you know that Li Chun, signifying the Chinese Solar calendar's first month, is actually an even more significant day?
Falling more or less on the same day on the 4th of February, Li Chun means the "beginning of Spring". In the olden days, farmers often celebrate Li Chun with village events and worship to pray for a bountiful harvest and a prosperous new year.
In Asia, it became a customary practice on Li Chun to deposit money into one's bank at an auspicious time for a prosperous new year. Many astrologists have their annual guide on the best time for certain Chinese zodiacs to bank in money to achieve good money luck for the new year.

According to Yuan Zhong Siu Feng Shui Consultancy, the best time to deposit money for those born in the year of the Rabbit, Dragon, Goat, and Pig begins at 5am and ends at 7am. For those born in the year of Dragon and Goat, they get extra chances to deposit money at more convenient timings such as 9am and 3pm.
For those born in the year of the Tiger, Snake, Goat, Monkey, and Dog, you will be able to utilise your lunchtime to head to the bank to deposit money as the auspicious time is 11am to 1pm for these zodiacs.
However, before Li Chun, it is believed that spring cleaning your house can help remove the bad energies in your living space. Starting from the 16th of January until Li Chun, there are five auspicious days for spring cleaning to bring about the optimal energies into your house for the new year.
Yuan Zhong Siu's Grand Master Hillary Phang shared with Yahoo Lifestyle SEA, those facing the East during 7am - 9am on Li Chun and making a work-related resolution for the new year will help your career in 2021. It is believed that the rising sun's energies will bring forth motivational energies and strengthen determination for the new year.
For those looking to start a business or further their existing businesses in 2021, wearing a gold accessory on the left hand on Li Chun is highly recommended. The metal element present in the gold accessory is believed to help turn passiveness into actions in the new year. Grand Master Phang also lets on that those who rely on sales and commissions as part of their career will benefit from this.
Customary to the Chinese, it is also essential to choose a time to commence work after the Chinese New Year.
According to Dato Joey Yap of the Joey Yap Consultancy Group, the Monday after Chinese New Year, the 15th of February, at 1:30pm is an excellent time to begin work for the new year. However, those born in the year of the Rat will not benefit from this timing and should choose other dates from the list.
If you have already saved up on annual leave due to cancelled vacations in 2020, take a more extended break and resume work on Friday, the 19th of February instead. It is the best date for work recommencement, but those who are born in the year of the Dragon will not benefit from resuming work on this day.
