'Yellowstone' Fans Are Freaking Out Over CarterParamount

Carter, is that you?! Played by Finn Little, the young boy brought to the Dutton ranch to join Beth (Kelly Reilly) and Rip's (Cole Houser) home in Season Four of Yellowstone, has shocked fans with his sudden growth spurt. Many viewers were even fully convinced that the actor was replaced entirely. "So we’re supposed to believe that Tate grew a year between seasons and Carter is paying taxes and planning for retirement?" one viewer joked on Twitter. Another commenter remarked, "There is NO way that’s Carter! Omg. When season 4 ended this kid’s MOM was still running his Instagram!"

Surprisingly, Little is just another 16-year-old teenager affected by puberty. Classic. He grew from "a little pudgy kid" to "6-foot-1," according to Houser, who told ET that Little "came in this year and he looked at me and he's like, 'You ain't gonna f**k with me this year, Cole.'" In glorious Rip Wheeler fashion, Houser told him he would "punch you in your throat and I don't give a s**t." Ah, Yellowstone.

The series made a solid joke about his growth spurt in the premiere episode of Season Five, when Carter joked with John Dutton (Kevin Costner) that he hadn't seen him in a long time. He even goes as far as to reintroduce himself when John appears confused. "I know who you are," John replies, "Jesus Christ... quit growing, because it freaks me out!" Later, he tells him, "if you grow a beard, you're fired." Doesn't this family have enough to worry about?! Now we're adding beards onto the Dutton enemies list.

In an Instagram post back in May, Finn Little joked that the Yellowstone crew didn't even recognize him when he returned to set. "When you say, 'hi, nice to see you!' to the film crew and they don't know who you are!,'" he joked. Little kept the fun going just a month before the Season Five premiere as well, captioning a photo, "outgrown my clothes. see you soon!"

The kid has had a rough time on the Yellowstone ranch so far, but who in the Dutton family hasn't? Creator Taylor Sheridan "certainly hasn't given Carter any breaks," Houser told ET. "This year, there's a little bit more of like me kind of opening up... He's learning and he's failing while he learns, but at least he's trying. So, I think Taylor wrote it really well where Finn and I, the actor, can kind of slowly walk the dog this year." Good for you, Finn! Maybe shooting up a whole foot in height has its benefits when you're in the cowboy business.
