Who doesn’t love a juicy, aromatic beef burger to get you through your day? If you’re in need of a beefy fix while in one-north, you have to head over to Ye Olde Cow for some incredible grub.
Don’t expect to find a typical sit-down restaurant or take-away kiosk— the eccentric Ye Olde Cow operates out of a truck! Simply look out for a vibrant orange vehicle outside of lyf one-north, with a quirky mural of a cow in a suit adorning it.
Though Ye Olde Cow offers take-away dishes, there is an amphitheatre for dining just 20 steps away from the truck, ensuring that you’ll have somewhere comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal.
Ye Olde Cow specialises in smashed dry-aged beef burgers. It also offers classic burger pairing dishes like fries and cold beverages. Every burger is made fresh to order, ensuring that your delectable meal is served to you hot and delicious.
The food truck also has beer and cocktails on tap, for you to conveniently get your fix of alcohol together with your burgers. The business is available for private hire bookings, if you’re looking to cater dry-aged burgers for your next event.
As Ye Olde Cow operates pop-ups often, be sure to check their Instagram page for updates on when they will be away so that your trip down won’t be in vain.
What I tried at Ye Olde Cow
Ye Olde Cow offers 5 different kinds of burgers, with 3 signatures that you absolutely must try. Each signature burger comes in at S$18.40 and contains 220g of dry-aged beef, followed by an assortment of toppings, depending on which burger you choose.
Dig into the Signature OG if you crave the familiar yet delectable taste of a quintessential cheeseburger. This burger comes filled with a double beef patty, American cheese, caramelised onions and house mayo sandwiched between 2 buttery brioche buns.
The juiciness of the beef patties is truly commendable, with the tantalising minced beef glistening as we cut into it. Every bite is rich and robust, with the melty cheese complementing the dense flavours of the dry-aged meat.
If you crave stronger flavours, Ye Olde Cow’s Signature Traditional should be your go-to. While most elements of this burger are the same as the Signature OG, the main difference is that instead of caramelised onions, the Signature Traditional is filled with onions, pickles, mustard and ketchup.
The piquancy of this burger is a stand-out element, especially given how the pickles, mustard and ketchup add a bit of tanginess. The onions are a nice touch too, providing the soft burger with some crunch.
Looking to get your greens in? Opt for Ye Olde Cow’s Signature Classic, consisting of the usual double patty and American cheese, plus lettuce, tomatoes, onions and house burger sauce.
This burger is definitely for those who enjoy the crisp, refreshing taste of fresh vegetables to balance out the richer flavours of the meat and cheese. Of course, Ye Olde Cow uses only the freshest ingredients, ensuring that each bite of the Signature Classic is of the utmost tastiness.
What burger meal is complete without some good ol’ fries to have on the side? Ye Olde Cow wows with its Cheese Fries (S$7.90), containing skin-on shoestring fries topped with beef crumbles and a house-made cheese sauce made with their own special blend of cheese and beef dripping. I love how Ye Olde Cow doesn’t scrimp in terms of the cheese sauce, as it is drizzled liberally on top of the crisp fries.
Compared to the usual cheese sauce you’ll find in supermarkets, Ye Olde Cow’s cheese sauce is much richer with a strong savoury aroma and a slightly smoky taste. The beef crumbles on top are amazing in adding to the indulgent factor of this side. You won’t want to miss out on this!
Ye Olde Cow is a great spot for diners to get amazing burgers in a grab-and-go style. Not only are the dry-aged beef patties incredibly juicy and meaty, their cheese fries don’t disappoint either.
To make things even better, the food truck will be offering a Buy 2 Get 1 Free promo on their beers from 20th Nov to 31st Dec to celebrate its addition of beers on tap. What better way is there to enjoy a fantastic meal?
Expected damage: S$12.90 – S$24.40 per pax
