Yang Mi's "Nothing Can't Be Undone by a Hotpot" goes to streaming

13 May - After it was withdrawn from theatres across China after only a few days of release, it was revealed that the Yang Mi-starrer, "Nothing Can't Be Undone by a Hotpot" will now go straight to streaming.

The news was announced by the official Weibo account of the movie, saying that the movie will be streamed on Youku soon.

"Hotpot Bureau, reunite!" it added in its caption.

The news drew ire among fans of Yang Mi, who thought that the film was only withdrawn so it would be released at a later date like most films that experienced slow number of audiences during its release.

One posted, "Would it kill you to wait for the movie to be released normally before selling it to a streaming platform?"

"Wasn't it a withdrawal? It's not going to be rescheduled? It's going to be aired online instead? It hasn't even warmed up [in theatres]?" another asked.

Meanwhile, others are speculating that the producers are not convinced that the movie would do well in theatres if it is to be re-released, prompting it to be sold to a streamer instead.
