I Write A Lot Of Fun Facts, And Here Are 16 That I've Never Been Able To Get Out Of My Head
I write a lot, and I'm on the internet quite a bit, which means I've learned more than my fair share of fun facts. Some I forget about immediately, but others I tell to at least one person a week. Here are the ones I honestly haven't forgotten about after learning them years ago:
1.Gwen Stefani is older than Ted Cruz.

Stefani was born in 1969 and is 54 years old. Cruz is 53 and was born in 1970.
2.If you put a Viagra pill in a flower vase's water, it'll make the flowers stand straight up.
A typical Viagra pill is 50mg, but it takes only 1mg to affect the flowers.
3.If you rearrange the letters in Clint Eastwood, you can spell "old west action."
He's not the only famous person whose name is a personalized anagram. If you rearrange the letters in "William Shakespeare," you get "I'll make a wise phrase."
4.Dogs like squeaky toys because they mimic the sound of dying prey.
High-pitched squeaks apparently encourage playing.
5. There's an electric eel from the Tennessee Aquarium named Miguel Wattson who has a Twitter account and will tweet any time he sets off a charge.

6. While we're talking about Twitter accounts I love, The Count from Sesame Street tweets at least once a day, just counting one tweet at a time.

7.Unrolling Scotch tape fast enough can generate a charge powerful enough to take an X-ray.
Researchers at the University of California were able to successfully X-ray a finger.
8.Chef Boyardee was a real person. He was a gourmet chef who used to work at the Plaza Hotel.
According to the Chef Boyardee website, he became the head chef there.
9.Mothers won't actually reject a baby bird if you touch it.
Birds don't smell well, so this is essentially a myth. HOWEVER, birds may abandon a nest if they are flushed from it by a human or a predator.
10.The movie How the Grinch Stole Christmas is a sequel.
Before that, the Grinch was in a movie called Halloween Is Grinch Night, and it won an Emmy.
11.Cheetahs can't roar. They meow.
12.Scientists estimate that 16.2 bits of microplastic enter our airways every hour.
The original estimate was a credit card's worth of plastic every week, but it's much lower, which is...good, I guess?
13.Coconut water was once successfully used to resuscitate a dehydrated patient by getting it intravenously.
There's a myth that coconut water is identical to human plasma. It's not.
14.Pineapple eats you back. An enzyme in it breaks down the tissue in your mouth when you eat it, which is why it's prone to give you a canker sore.
The hypothesis is that the bromelain in the pineapple breaks down the mucus, and without that protective barrier, the acid hurts the mouth.
15.Humans and giraffes have the same amount of bones in their necks.
The average giraffe's neck is six feet.
16.And finally, 20% of children report hearing voices.
Early to late childhood is the peak time for this experience.
