World Series Game 3 Scores a Tuesday Primetime Ratings Win for Fox

The World Series Game 3 scored a Tuesday primetime win for Fox as the network blew away the competition, taking first place in both total viewership and the advertiser-coveted 18-49 demographic, according to Nielsen’s live plus same-day figures.

The highly anticipated game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Houston Astros gave a home run to Fox by earning a ratings score of 2.63 in the key demo and drawing in 11.3 total viewers for the network during Tuesday’s primetime. As the Phillies became the fourth team in history to hit five home runs in the World Series, the 8 p.m. game scored a rating of 2.6 and a total viewership of 11.2 million on average — a whooping 273% increase from last week’s airing of “The Resident” in the 8 p.m. slot, which received 3 million average viewers.

Here’s how primetime broke down across the major broadcast networks:

ABC was second in ratings with an average 0.41 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 2.1 million. Tuesday’s new episode of “Bachelor in Paradise” at 8 p.m. kicked off the night strong by earning a ratings score of 0.49 and receiving 2.3 million viewers on average — though ratings sunk from last week when the show’s reunion from “split week” scored a rating of 0.63. Next up at 10 p.m. was “The Rookie Feds,” which received a rating of 0.25 in the demo and brought in 1.8 million viewers on average.

NBC was third in ratings with an average 0.39 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 4 million. Beginning at 8 p.m., the network aired “The Voice,” which topped the charts for the network Tuesday night with a score of 0.56 and a viewership of 5.8 million on average. In the 9 p.m. slot, “La Brea” received a 0.32 rating score and drew in 3.5 million average viewers while “New Amsterdam” closed out the night with 0.29 in the demo and 2.8 million viewers on average.

CBS was fourth in ratings with an average 0.31 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 4.2 million with the help of its “FBI” franchise. “FBI” started off the night at 8 p.m. with a score of 0.35 and a viewership of 5.0 million on average — the highest viewership and rating for CBS on Tuesday. Next up at 9 p.m. was “FBI: International,” which earned a 0.30 rating and drew in 4.0 million average viewers. Finally at 10 p.m., “FBI: Most Wanted” closed out the night with a ratings score of 0.27 and a viewership of 3.5 million on average.

The CW was fifth in ratings with an average 0.08 in the demo and in total viewers with an average of 439,000. At 8 p.m. “The Winchesters” earned a rating of 0.11 and drew in 571,000 viewers on average while “Professionals” at 9 p.m. scored 0.05 in the demo and received 307,000 average viewers.

Neither The CW nor Fox air primetime programming at 10 p.m.

In terms of Spanish-language networks, Univision won first place in primetime with a 0.4 rating in the demo and 1.3 million total average viewers. “Vencer La Ausencia” started off the night at 8 p.m. and received a rating of 0.4 in the demo and a viewership of 1.2 million on average. At 9 p.m. “Los Ricos También Lloran” earned a 0.5 in the demo and 1.5 million total average viewers and “La Madrastra” closed off the night by receiving a 0.4 in ratings and 1.1 million total viewers on average.

Telemundo came in second place both in terms of rating in the demo and total average viewership, as the network saw a 0.2 rating and 892,000 average total viewers for the night. “Exatlón Estados Unidos,” which ran from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., earned a ratings score of 0.2 and brought an average viewership of 904,000. “La Reina del Sur” came next and brought in a 0.3 rating and 976,000 total viewers on average, and “El Fuego del Destino” finished the night with a rating of 0.2 in the demo and a total viewership of 775,000 on average.
