William Chan faces dramatic salary cut?

14 Aug – Rumours are rife that the recent alleged tax evasion scandal involving actress Fan Bingbing has been affecting other artistes at large - most of all, Hong Kong's rising star William Chan.

As reported on Epoch Times, sources recently revealed that the State Administration of Radio and Television has issued a limit order, in which stars' payment must not exceed 40 percent of the total production cost.

This means that William, who is one of the highest paid Hong Kong actors in mainland China, will now see a big cut in his salary.

It is noted that William previously ranked the highest among his Hong Kong colleagues in the 2017 China Celebrity List, coming in at number 21 with an annual income of RMB 120 million - higher than even superstars like Andy Lau (at #27), Jacky Cheung (#57), and Nicholas Tse (#84).

Some producers also pointed out other stars, including Kevin Cheng, Charmaine Sheh, Ada Choi, and Dicky Cheung are also facing a 20 percent cut from their usual fee in order for them to have a chance to perform.
