Which are the hair colours that require only one bleach to achieve?

image

Colourful locks come at cost. Yes, we are referring to bleaching your strands to achieve the colours of the galaxy or rainbow that would inspire envy in just about everyone.

Pretty as these colourful trends are, we all know too well what bleach can do to hair. The horror stories of hair breaking off while combing and damaged tresses that seem almost impossible to manage will make you think twice (or a dozen times) before committing to bleaching your hair.

But wait! Before you sigh and swear off bleaching your hair, not all of the colourful hair trends you have been coveting require going through multiple sessions of bleach.

We previously put together a series of looks that DO NOT require any bleach. But if they are not bright enough for you, why not consider the following hair colours that require ONLY ONE round of bleach by some of Beauty Undercover’s Trusted Salons.

1. Pastel pink

Is pink your favourite hair colour? We have good news for you - pink is actually one of those colours that require only one bleach session.

This is surprising for us, since pink is very light - so we suspect it may depend on your existing hair colour.

As it still requires bleaching, you may want to consider going for the peek-a-boo pink to minimize the damage and maximize the impact.

For a more subtle and classy combination, the peek-a-boo dip-dye works surprisingly well against the brown balayage.

2. Dark pinkish red

Set your hair ablaze with rich pinkish red!

Although you can get a dark red colour without bleaching, bleaching your hair once will allow for a fuller reddish tone.

According to Samantha from Color Bar by Full House Salon, this Joico pinkish red colour is especially vivid because it contains treatments within the colour itself.

By repairing your hair as it colours, the intensely concentrated colour pigments last longer and gives off a brighter hue.

If you are hoping for something a little more subtle, the ombre version works just as well.

We really like how the brown base colour integrates seamlessly with the red in this handpressed hair colour.

3. Midnight blue

You need at least two bleaches for brighter bluesm but one bleach is sufficient for rich midnight blues.

Did you know that amongst the many hair colours Kylie Jenner has been spotted in, there was a time when she too donned dark blue tresses.

4. Purple perfection

With pink and blue, the next logical hair colour to go for is purple!

Purple hair colour tends to look really vibrant as it is a very strong colour pigment that stands out easily with just one bleach.

Purple hair looks good on almost everyone, and you never have to worry about not being able to pull it off.

Furthermore, purple goes with other colours well, which means you can dye your hair different shades to match with the purple.

It goes well with ash and blue as well for an ‘oil slick’ effect.

If you are bored of the typical peek-a-boo hair colour, the asymmetrical peek-a-boo also works just as well.

5. Rose gold

Everyone is obsessed with rose gold hair colour, and we can’t blame them.

The colour hits the sweet spot when it comes to colours that are pretty, feminine and classy.

Although some stylists can achieve it without bleaching, most require at least one time of bleach to bring out the true brilliant rose gold hair colour.

If full rose gold isn’t for you, adding streaks of strawberry balayage works just as well too.

8. Balayage / sombre / babylights brown

At Beauty Undercover, we always believe that brown hair doesn’t have to be boring… especially if you pair it with the right techniques.

Among the various browns, sombre browns are among our favourites.

Natural and elegant, sombre browns are donned by many Hollywood celebrities who love it for its subtle sophistication… especially when paired with curls.

Of course, balayage can achieve the same chic look you are looking for… if it is done well!

Adding babylights help to brighten up the overall balayage, making it obvious but still acceptable for work.

Not everyone can do the gradation required in Ecaille Balayage well, but Picasso Hair Studio is one of the few salons that does.

Ombre is a tad bit more common these days, but hey, it still looks good.

Finally, highlighting may seem like a traditional technique, but it can bring out your overall colour if it’s done well.

Although it requires bleaching, we’re impressed by how fast Izumi does it (less than 15 minutes) while making sure that the right places are highlighted to enhance our facial features.

#didyouknow that leaving the bleach for 15 minutes or less doesn’t really damage your hair as much?

9. Dark grey

This is dependent on how dark your existing hair colour is.

image

If your colour pigments are removed relatively easily, you may be able to achieve this rich dark matte grey with just one bleach.

Note however that the dark grey isn’t as bright as the typical granny grey which requires bleaching around three to five times.

You won’t find granny grey or light pastel colours on this list, but the above-mentioned colours are a good compromise between chic and healthy hair!

Which of these colours will you be sporting? Let us know in the comments below.
