"Where the Wind Blows" is HK's movie for the Oscars

29 Sep – Hong Kong has finally selected this year's entry to the Oscars Best International Picture category in Philip Yung's "Where the Wind Blows".

The news was announced by the Hong Kong Film Producers Association, followed by lead actor Aaron Kwok who wrote online, "Where the Wind Blows" represents Hong Kong in the Oscars for Best International Picture. I hope the efforts of the director and the team can be seen more."

It is noted that Hong Kong has been successful in getting to the top five for a total of three times, "Raise the Red Lantern" in 1991, "Farewell My Concubine" in 1993, and "Better Days" in 2020 - with the last one being helmed by a native Hong Kong director, Derek Tsang.

Last year, Hong Kong sent the Sandra Ng-starrer, "Zero to Hero", though it failed to make it to the last leg.

"Where the Wind Blows", previously known as "Theory of Ambitions", is a crime thriller that tells the story of the infamous corrupt Hong Kong police officers Lui Lok and Lam Kong. It stars Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung.
