Vivian Lai thankful for new album
27 Jan - Hong Kong singer Vivian Lai is thankful that she was able to make her comeback as a singer and release an album 14 years after announcing her retirement.
As reported on Mingpao news, the 43-year-old singer, who was once known as one of the Seven Little Flowers of Polygram, has just recently released her new album, "VFresh" after leaving the music industry for more than ten years.
"There are only five words to describe this album, "Happiness is the most important"," said Vivian, when describing her new release.
Vivian admitted that a lot of top record labels have been offering her a chance to release an album over the years, but that she had to decline due to the timing. At the time, she was just divorced from her husband and was in no condition to appear in public.
"I wasn't ready to meet the media at the time. But this time, the record company didn't ask me to lose weight and told me that I don't have to make a lot of appearance for publicity. That's why I agreed," she explained.
Vivian added that her two children were also very supportive of her comeback, which made it easier for her to make the decision.
"The response I got from the fans has been beyond what I expected. I never thought that they would miss listening to my voice," she said.
Although it has been a while since she released a new song, "VFresh" contains mostly cover songs, including Leon Lai's "No Longer This Life", and Albert Au's "Mo Shang Gui Ren".
