Vin E Jingwen is the lead in "The New King of Comedy"
24 Jan – Following Stephen Chow's clarification that Wang Baoqiang is not the lead in his new movie, "The New King of Comedy" - the studio finally unveils its true lead star - mainland newcomer Vin E Jingwen.
As reported on Mingpao, the actress, who has never played a lead in any movie or television drama her whole life, shared that just like her character in the movie, she was a movie extra who was never credited in the movies she worked before.
"When the assistant director called me to tell me that I have been chosen to be Stephen's new lead, I couldn't believe it. The assistant had to call me three times. It was only after he showed me the proof that I believed him. I taught he was a fraud at first," she said.
Vin stated that she saw a lot of similarities between her and her character Yu Mong in the movie.
"She doesn't mind being made fun of and being parodied. That's who I am in real life," she said.
The actress stated that she has never given up on her dreams of becoming an actress her whole life, and that she is happy to finally have the opportunity to be the lead in a Stephen Chow movie.
