Vietnamese model Ngoc Trinh riles home country with naked dress at Cannes

SINGAPORE — While Cannes never fails to thrill fans with celebrity appearances and dazzling red carpet styles, it was one particular model who’s now under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Vietnamese model Ngoc Trinh shocked photographers, and even ministers back in her home country, for stepping out in a daring backless beaded dress, which revealed her derrière.

According to The Mirror, the model might face a large, hefty fine from the Vietnamese government, for baring it all.

Her outfit is said to have caused “public outrage” in her home country, according to Nguyen Ngoc Thien, Vietnam’s Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.

"Her outfit was improper, offensive and has caused public outrage,” he said.

Others have said the gown “goes against Vietnamese tradition and people should speak out against this uncultured behaviour”.
