Vickie Rushton: I shouldn't have let myself get distracted!

20 Jun – Although she failed to perform her best during the Q&A segment of the 2019 Binibining Pilipinas due to disturbance from the audience, Vickie Rushton recently stated that she would not put the blame on anyone else but herself.

As reported on PEP, the beauty queen, who sat down with Boy Abunda on his talk show recently, admitted that she was distracted by an audience in the crowd who stood up and "made a face" at her during her turn to answer the panel's question.

"But I feel [in the end], it's me. I should not be easily distracted. I should have been prepared. I don't know why I was so weak as to get myself distracted. I should have focused on myself," she said.

Abunda also gave her a chance to answer again to the question why mental health is as important as physical health.

To that, she responded, "Mental health is as important as physical health because it goes hand in hand for our inner being.

"Growing up, I was bullied and it affected my mental and physical health. And as a woman who has been through a lot, I can use it to empower and inspire other people and remind them that self-love is important for us to be productive."

Asked if she has plans to try again in future pageants, Rushton stated that she can't promise anything yet.

"Last year when I was first runner-up, I said I did not want to join again. But at the last minute, I did. We'll see," she said.
