Veteran star Lily Liu passed away
13 Sep - Former Mediacorp actress and TVB veteran actress Lily Liu has recently passed away.
According to Mingpao, the news was confirmed by Lily's daughter, who shared that her mother passed away on the morning of 4 September at Hong Kong's Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.
It is said that Lily, who survived breast cancer in the past, was diagnosed with tongue cancer a little while ago. Despite her surgery in July, the cancer spread to her lungs and other organs, and she passed away soon after.
Colleagues including Sharon Chan, Hoffman Cheng, and Jimmy Au expressed shock upon hearing the news of her passing. Hoffman shared that he last saw Lily earlier this year, looking as bright and happy as ever, and couldn't believe that she's gone.
On the other hand, TVB released a statement saying that they are deeply sorry for her passing and will do their best to help the family with funeral arrangements.
Lily started her career as an amateur dance teacher. In 1980, she joined Singapore's MediaCorp, but returned to TVB in 1987 where she starred in countless dramas, and hosted shows including "Sunday Stage Fight".
She was 70.
