Uniqlo reveals Spring/Summer 2023 collection with the help of a special guest
Mr. Takahiro Kinoshita, Fast Retailing Group Executive Vice President and Creative Director, flew in from Japan for this occasion.
There was a buzz in the air as a mix of regional media descended upon National Gallery last Thursday (16 February) for the Uniqlo Spring/Summer 2013 collection showcase, alongside the launch of the latest Lifewear Magazine issue.
But what made this showcase special was the presence of Mr. Takahiro Kinoshita, Fast Retailing Group Executive Vice President and Creative Director, who flew in from Japan for this occasion. Mr Kinoshita also wears the hat of the magazine's editor-in-chief, as he has over 30 years of experience publishing for titles like Men's Club, an •an magazine, Brutus, and Popeye.
The theme of Issue 08 for Spring/Summer is 'The Art of Everyday Life,' which is a rediscovery of the relationship between clothes and life. It's an issue that presents Spring/Summer stylings with 'art' in the sense of a creative endeavour, as well as the qualities and skills that allow us to live each day positively.
When deciding on content for the Lifewear magazine, the personality said in a press conference to my question that he normally "reaches out to magazine editors around the world for collaboration." For this issue, he collaborated with the team from the Spanish magazine, Apartamento, and the Australian magazine, Frankie.
In a media statement, he shared: "Paris, Tokyo, Melbourne, Los Angeles, Barcelona, Kyoto, Stockholm, Boston, Hamburg, and Warsaw—these are the cities that LifeWear magazine visited and photographed for this latest issue. We wanted to convey the positive moods and values of each location and its people together with LifeWear, and were able to put together an issue with a feel of travelling."
For his insights on menswear, Mr Kinoshita shared: "For men's fashion, it is quite easy to identify the fashion cycle compared to women's fashion. When I was young, American Casual was in fashion and after that, there were the ideas for traditional, casual and followed by streetwear fashion."
Here are the themes that the Uniqlo SS23 collection is touching on:

2. The skin-protecting UV Cut range has expanded to include colourful tones on items like caps, umbrellas, parkas, tops and more.
3. Breezy linen shirts now come in refreshing colours that delight all.
