Chingu Dining offers  authentic Korean dining at its 2 outlets, one at The Oval in Seletar and the other in Rochester. The former is housed within a refurbished colonial bungalow surrounded by nature and the greenery of Seletar Aerospace Park, offering diners a relaxing ambience to unwind.

The restaurant also has a small pet-friendly al fresco dining space— the whole family, including fur kids, are able to join in on the Mother’s Day celebrations too.

What I especially like about Chingu Dining is the fact that its indoor tabletops utilise an innovative smokeless grill. You don’t need to worry about smelling like meat when you leave the premises!

What I tried at Chingu Dining

The Mother’s Day exclusive Empress Feast (S$238++) is a luxurious set suitable for 4 to 6 pax. This enticing feast will be available from 9 to 12 May 2024, and can be ordered at both of the restaurant’s outlets at The Oval and Rochester.

The menu consists of a series of premium meats and pre-cooked dishes for the whole family to enjoy.

The Hokkaido A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak is undoubtedly the star of The Empress Feast. This large slab of meat is beautifully marbled with a good mix of fat and flesh.

Savour the buttery aroma of the Hokkaido A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak in every bite— the incredibly tender texture, paired with the sublime juiciness of the meat, makes this treat an unforgettable one.

The Black Angus Hanging Tender Steak is another cut of meat on the menu. Compared to the Hokkaido A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak, this meat is thicker and may cater more to those who prefer a chewier, richer bite.

The steak is first grilled in large chunks, and later cut into thinner slices to allow for more even cooking.

What results is a meaty and satisfying dish— the steak is not overly chewy, yet offers quite a bit of pleasant resistance when bitten into. The strong beefy flavours of this steak offer a nice contrast to the sweeter, more buttery taste of the Hokkaido A4 Wagyu Rib-Eye Steak.

The final meat in The Empress Feast is the Pork Belly, perfect for mothers who enjoy this indulgent and juicy dish.

The pork belly is perfectly tender with a good ratio of meat to fat, allowing for every bite to burst with flavour.

The Empress Feast at Chingu Dining also comes with slices of cheese, pineapple and mushrooms, effectively zhng-ing up your grilled meats. Wrap your pork belly slices in some stringy, melty cheese to enhance your gastronomical experience, or pair them with the pineapple slices for a nice sweet-savoury contrast.

Korean BBQ isn’t complete without some classic pre-cooked sides! The Empress Feast includes a few Korean favourites, starting with the Korean Seafood Pancake.

This delicious creation stuns with its crispy exterior and soft, chewy interior— the pancake itself isn’t too salty and is generously packed with an assortment of seafood. The dipping sauce elevates the experience with its mild piquancy and light spice, making for a satisfying snack.

Diners will get to choose either the Steamed Egg or the Baked Tteokbokki as their next dish— the latter is a hefty dish filled with large tteokbokki pieces and topped with stretchy cheese.

Tteokbokki lovers won’t be disappointed by this dish. The scarlet sauce nicely coats the surface of each rice cake and fishcake while the generous amount of cheese on top makes each bite even more rich and savoury.

Finally, be treated to a complimentary Ban Ban Stew worth S$38++. This dual flavour stew allows for you to pick 2 stews, with the options being Kimchi Stew, Soybean Paste Stew and Traditional Rice Cake Soup.

The Kimchi Stew comes chock full of seafood like crab and clams, making it the perfect option for mums who love fresh seafood and the tangy profile of kimchi.

The Traditional Rice Cake Soup, on the other hand, is simple yet incredibly comforting. It has a homely taste and is filled generously with rice cake and eggs, making it a versatile dish that diners of all ages will enjoy.
