'In Transit' Is Back, Folks —With Dermot KennedyEsquire

Folks, we have not one—but two!—reasons to celebrate. "In Transit," Esquire's travel series (hosted by the one and only Dave Holmes) is back. If you're unfamiliar with the show, Holmes meets a celebrity for a drink at an airport bar and gathers a few travel tips and tricks, all while cluing you into the delights of a new city. Previously, Holmes has uncovered hidden treasures in Orlando, Boston, and Pittsburgh.

And that second reason? It's Holmes's guest this time around: Irish singer-songwriter Dermot Kennedy, who just released a brilliant new single, "Don’t Forget Me." Together, the crew hones in on the (incredibly underrated) city of Cincinnati, Ohio. You can watch the video, which is streaming above, for the full download, but rest assured: the great Findlay Market, the ultimate destination for souvenirs, gifts, and food, is absolutely on this list. For now, we'll drop some wise travel advice from Kennedy, who has had quite a few globe-trotting adventures himself. So, what's his advice for arriving to a destination feeling somewhat fresh?

"Sometimes, if it's really far, like Australia, I will find a park and [put] bare feet on the ground," Kennedy tells Holmes. "That's really important for me. I don't even know if it works—it grounds me. I think there's something to be said for [feeling] the actual soil of the place you're in.

You might be on to something, Dermot! Give that one a try next time you're on the road—and hear more wisdoms from Holmes's chat with Kennedy in the full video.
